Not just looking for something to eat, but also for an experience to savour?

A visit to an educational farm… it might just be the thing! The concept behind "Mont Blanc Fermes Péda" is as simple as it is essential: putting agriculture back at the heart of everyday life. The association supports local producers, promotes eco-grazing, uses animals to manage invasive plant species, and invites visitors to discover the realities of farm life. Summer, winter, or off-season, the doors of member farmers are always open for lively, informative, and refreshingly hands-on visits. There’s no question of observing animals from a distance or leaving with just a few theoretical facts. You step onto the farm, watch the work being done—and before long, it’s your turn! Making butter, crafting tomme cheese, pressing apple juice… In short, it’s raw, authentic and delicious.

Farmers, as many as you want

Across the Valley, the experiences are varied and unique. At Gérard Berrux's Pain de Chibon, you go from meeting Hérens cows to tasting a loaf of bread still warm from the oven. A rare, deeply committed place where biodiversity isn't just a buzzword, it's a daily reality. Further on, at Croets Mastins, sheep's cheese is made right before your eyes and those of the guard dogs keeping a watchful eye. At Ferme du Vieux Guide in Vallorcine, it's total immersion: goats, mules, pigs, a vegetable garden, and that delightful feeling of having pressed pause. Ferme de Montroc, Les 3 Terres in Chavants, and Ferme de Vallorcine complete the picture, offering dairy processing, Brown Swiss cattle, and unfiltered landscapes.

Where and when can you meet them?

Fondue in a yurt: Savoyard Mongolia

For a dinner with a twist, head to the yurt at Evolution 2 Chamonix. Meet at Argentière train station for a leisurely 30-minute walk, enough time to leave the village and work up an appetite. Upon arrival, the fire is crackling, aperitifs are already served, and the soup is steaming. You're not far away, yet you're already somewhere else.

Inside the yurt, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The menu is simple: fondue with local cheeses, regional charcuterie, dessert, and a quarter-litre of wine. Everything you need to share, laugh, and lose track of time. This evening occurs every Wednesday, but can be more frequent for groups. The return trip is on foot, a leisurely digestion with your mind full of happy memories.
